Description: The training program will address common billing and coding mistakes in biofeedback and neurofeedback.  It will include the proper ways to bill and code biofeedback and neurofeedback, including when the requirements for using the CPT code are met or not met.  In doing so, it will cover the importance of scope of practice.  It will provide a foundation understand some of the complexities around telehealth, remote training, and home training with biofeedback and neurofeedback with CPT coding.  It will address the role of the FDA in regulating biofeedback and neurofeedback, including the presence of and ability to obtain “on label” uses for specific diagnoses under current categories.  It will also address how a provider can advertise for their services and how that varies from a device manufacturer.  The goal is to empower the licensed providers offering biofeedback and neurofeedback services, through education about what is proper and removing the ruthless myths that continue to perpetuate in the field, to feel confident in their practice and how they represent themselves to the public.

What will participants learn?

1. Be able to correctly identify the CPT coding for biofeedback and neurofeedback, whether in office, telehealth, home training, or remote training.
2. Be able to correctly identify the risks and faults of “Alternative coding”.
3. Be able to identify how scope of practice affects CPT coding in biofeedback and neurofeedback (especially with telehealth, home training, and remote training), where to obtain scope of practice information, delegation and “incident to” billing, and third-party insurance reimbursement possibilities.
4. Be familiar with FDA regulations of biofeedback and neurofeedback devices.
5. Be aware of what regulatory body is responsible for regulating what I advertise for my services as a provider.
6. Be able to define and give examples of what is and is not “puffery”.
